Stardew Valley 1.6 in 2024 Confirmed. Developer Recommends Starting New Game

Stardew Valley will get the 1.6 update this year, first on PC and soon after on consoles and mobile devices. The developer advised it would be best to create a new save file beforehand.

Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone is slowly finishing work on the next (and certainly "last") update of his work. The creator of Stardew Valley recommended that players start a new game after version 1.6.

He has already reported that the update has grown slightly compared to what he had planned to last year. Let us remind you: update 1.6 was supposed to be only a small package of various fixes for modders. Meanwhile, after Barone posted the list of changes, fans "accused" the creator of overworking himself.

Luckily, the creator has already finished adding content for the new update -- now all that's left for him is to "just" fix everything up. And, of course, answering questions from fans who, despite their concern for the developer's health, do not hesitate to ask him about the details of version 1.6 progress.

One of the questions was about save files, namely -- whether it makes sense to continue the current gameplay after the patch is released. Barone assured that most of the content of the 1.6 update will be available without starting the game over, but he still encourages you to create a fresh save file to "see everything in context" (via X).

The creator also confirmed that the update will hit PC first, but players playing Stardew Valley on consoles or mobile devices will not have to wait much longer. Barone wasn't ready to provide an exact release date, although he assured that update 1.6 will arrive in 2024.
